Electron scattering group, RI Science Lab., Research Center for Accelerators and Radioisotope Science, Tohoku University

Welcome to Suda’s Lab. HP

Professor Toshimi Suda

Welcome to our website of the electron-scattering group of the Research Center for Electron Photon Science.

Our research group is promoting the following world-leading nuclear physics research using the electron accelerators at Tohoku University and the newly constructed electron accelerator at RIKEN. They are;

1) Study of the internal structure of short-lived unstable nuclei by electron scattering: SCRIT electron-scattering facility of RIKEN/RIBF

(2) Precise measurement of proton size by electron scattering: ULQ2 (Ultra-Low Q2) facility of ELPH, Tohoku University

Electron scattering is the best way to study the internal structure of the proton and atomic nuclei.

We will “handcraft” the tools and equipment required to carry out these researches based on our own ideas. Specifically, a new electron accelerator, SCRIT, for 1) and a unique measurement device, ULQ2, for 2). I believe that our spirit of “making what we need by ourselves” will greatly contribute to education, including graduate students, as well as to the training of young people who will lead the next generation.

If you are interested in our research activities, do not hesitate to reach us. We also welcome students who wish to pursue research at the graduate course of Tohoku Univesity.
