The International Environmental Security Leadership Program (IESLP) at Tohoku University is an additional educational offering within the Graduate School of Environmental Studies, designed to complement the required courses for obtaining a master’s or doctoral degree. Students engage in IESLP alongside their degree coursework in the Department of Environmental Studies for Advanced Society or the Department of Frontier Sciences for Advanced Environment. The program includes joining a research lab to develop skills in specialized fields such as material science, geology, biology, and more. IESLP aims to equip students with both broad environmental understanding and specific research expertise. Participants also have access to summer schools and seminars featuring global experts, enhancing their education with a diverse range of knowledge and methods. Predominantly attracting international students, IESLP fosters a dynamic, English-speaking community focused on top-tier research and comprehensive environmental training.
