Richard Bowman

Richard Bowman is the Principal of Intertile Research, a specialist tiling system and slip resistance consultancy. He received his BS in ceramic engineering from the University of NSW in 1974. He accepted invitations to work with CSIRO, Australia’s premier R&D organisation, from 1974 to 2005. He is a past President of the International Ceramic Federation, a recipient of the Australian Ceramic Society Award, an Honorary Distinguished Life Member of the Australian Ceramic Society, and its current President. Richard has served on several national and international standards committees, and chaired many. Richard is a member of numerous Societies, including Human  Factors and Ergonomics Society of Australia. He served two terms as Chair of the IEA Technical Committee on Slips, Trips and Falls from 2015 to 2021. He has published widely and is particularly concerned with the development of responsible slip resistance standards, where suitable products should be selected so as to provide sufficient slip resistance throughout an economically reasonable lifecycle.
